Curfew in Colombo till 5 am tomorrow due to ongoing political turmoil in Sri Lanka: Interim President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced

Colombo: Due to the ongoing political chaos in Sri Lanka, a curfew has been imposed in Colombo till 5 am tomorrow. Interim President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that steps have been taken to prevent accidents.

People in Sri Lanka are suffering from severe economic crisis, rising prices, shortage of food, fuel and essential commodities. Due to financial crisis, food, medicine and fuel are unaffordable.

Countries including India and China are extending a helping hand by providing essential items including medicines. Due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, people have been protesting for months. As the protest against President Gotabaya Rajapakse’s government intensified, thousands of people gathered in front of the Sri Lankan President’s House on the 9th.

After this, protesters entered President Gotabaya’s house in Colombo and smashed the house. However, before the agitators arrived, Gotabaya escaped with his family. While his whereabouts are unknown, Gotabaya is reported to have fled to Maldives with his family in a military plane.

Following this, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed as the Interim President of Sri Lanka. Following this, thousands of protesters took to the streets and protested. As a result, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who issued a state of emergency order, also issued a curfew in the western province of the country.
