13 dead as Russian fighter jet crashes in apartment block

Moscow: 13 people, including 3 children, were killed when a Russian fighter jet crashed into a 9-apartment building. A Sukhoi-34 fighter jet, which was engaged in combat training in the Russian port city of Aisk, caught fire due to mechanical failure. All the pilots and soldiers in it escaped by parachute. The plane crashed into 9 apartment blocks.

The plane was being refueled when it exploded. As a result, the fire spread to the apartment. All floors of the building were damaged. 500 people were evacuated safely. 3 people who tried to escape by jumping from the top of the building died. A total of 13 bodies, including 3 children, were recovered from the burnt building ruins. Also, 19 people were injured.
