London: A few hours after Rishi Sunak took office as the Prime Minister of England, Dominic Raab has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister in a cabinet reshuffle. Indian-origin Rishi Sunak, who was elected Prime Minister of England, visited Buckingham Palace in London and met King Charles III. Rishi Sunak took charge as the new Prime Minister of India after the King called for the formation of a new government.
42-year-old Rishi, who has been sworn in as the 57th Prime Minister of England, also holds the distinction of being the youngest Prime Minister in the country’s 200-year history. Rishi Sunak, who carried out a drastic cabinet reshuffle within hours of taking office, removed many members of former Prime Minister Liz Truss’s cabinet. Dominic Raab has been given back the post of Deputy Prime Minister, which was taken away from Liz Truss during her tenure. Former finance minister Joel Hunt, former foreign minister Jones and defense minister Ven Polis continue in the same role.
Minister Suyalak, who recently resigned for violating government rules, has now been appointed as the Home Minister. Penny, who lost the Prime Ministerial race, continues as the leader of the House of Commons. Meanwhile, with the inauguration of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister, the country’s stock market saw a rise in points. Shares hit all-time highs since Liz Truss’ mid-term budget presentation.
