Colombo: Due to severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka, people held a series of protests. Due to this, Gothapaya, who left the country and resigned from the post of president, is currently living in a hotel in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, with his wife. He is said to be planning to return to Sri Lanka today or tomorrow. But due to the unusual situation, his safety is questionable.

Meanwhile, three students namely Mudalike Vasantha Kumara, Hashan Jeevanta and Buddhist Bhikku Kalveva Sirithamma of the All University Students Union have been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for coordinating the protest against the government.
It’s like being in prison
Gothapaya, who is staying at a hotel in the Thai capital Bangkok, has been ordered by the police not to leave the room as there is a threat to her life. Due to this, he is paralyzed in the hotel room and said, ‘He could not even go to his own country. Couldn’t even leave the room. It’s like being in jail,’ he laments.
