Commonwealth Games: PV Sindhu wins gold in Badminton

Birmingham: India’s PV Sindhu has won gold in the Commonwealth Women’s Badminton category in England. The 72-nation Commonwealth Games are underway in Birmingham, England. Indian sportsmen and women are reaping significant medals and enthralling the fans. In this case, B.V. Sindhu has won the gold medal for the first time in the Commonwealth series. Earlier, in the last semi-final match, Indian player BV Sindhu defeated Yeo Jia Min of Singapore with the score of 21-19, 21-17 and advanced to the final.

This ensured India another silver or gold medal. In today’s match, PV Sindhu defeated Canada’s Mitchell Lee in straight sets 21-15, 21-13 in the women’s singles final. India has so far won 56 medals including 19 gold and is ranked 4th in the Commonwealth Games. With 19 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze medals, India has advanced to the 4th position in the medal list. This is India’s 19th gold at the Commonwealth Games.
