Ola Electric Mobility has appointed Pritam Das Mohapatra as its new company secretary and compliance officer, effective immediately. This comes after the resignation of Pramendra Tomar, who stepped down two months ago due to personal commitments.
In a move to strengthen its corporate governance framework, Ola Electric’s board of directors approved the appointment of Mohapatra on December 30, 2024. His new role places him in charge of overseeing the company’s regulatory compliance and ensuring adherence to the standards set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
A Strong Corporate Background
With over 14 years of experience in corporate law, compliance, and governance, Mohapatra brings a wealth of expertise to the position. He is an associate member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and has held prominent roles at various firms, including Merabo Labs Private Limited, ANI Technologies Private Limited, and Zuari Infraworld India Limited.
His background in compliance, fundraising, IPO listings, and corporate governance makes him a valuable asset for Ola Electric at this pivotal moment. The company is keen to ensure that its operations remain in line with all applicable regulations as it continues to grow in India’s electric vehicle market.
Smooth Transition Following Resignation
The decision to appoint Mohapatra follows the resignation of Pramendra Tomar, who had held the position for several years. Tomar stepped down in October 2024, citing personal reasons and other commitments. His departure marked a significant change for the company, but Ola Electric seems to have moved quickly to fill the vacancy with a highly qualified replacement.
Ola Electric’s ability to swiftly appoint a new compliance officer is a sign of the company’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of corporate governance, ensuring its operations run smoothly and transparently.
Recent Executive Changes at Ola Electric
This move comes on the heels of other senior management changes at Ola Electric. Just last week, the company announced that Anshul Khandelwal, its Chief Marketing Officer, and Suvonil Chatterjee, the Chief Technology and Product Officer, had resigned with immediate effect. These changes come at a time when Ola Electric is continuing to expand its presence in the Indian electric vehicle market.
The resignation of these key management personnel may raise some questions about internal dynamics, but with Mohapatra’s appointment, Ola Electric is signaling its intention to maintain a stable and compliant corporate structure.
